Project Dance couldn’t be more thrilled with the positive changes that came into their recreation program in the fall of 2017, they are continuing to build upon that foundation. A detailed and comprehensive technical syllabus was implemented for each age, class and level on a weekly basis. Dancers in the recreation program have received and continue to receive a firmer foundation of technique, knowledge of terminology and learn how to execute moves with style, precision and strength. PD’s class structure has proved balance and progression appropriate for both age and skill level. This growth will assist the recreation dancers’ into Project Dances’ entry level competitive program smoothly, if desired. They are enthusiastic in continuing to build on the firm foundation that is placed in their recreation dance classes.

Recreation dancers at Project Dance will grow not only in technique, but also in confidence. They have also taken the program a step further and created fun monthly themes that make dance more meaningful in creating well rounded students.

Toddler, Preschool & Kinder “Twirl Program”

At Project Dance they are serious about their dancers' technical growth, however they also believe dance must be fun! In 2017, the “Twirl, Confetti on the Dance Floor” program was successfully introduced into the toddler, preschool and kindergarten age classes. It brings the “fancy and fun” to PD’s technical recreation dance program. “Twirl” also focuses on building confidence which supports Project Dances’ main objective. Its monthly themes will be continually implemented in future seasons. Each “Twirl” dancer will receive their very own Twirl memory activity book, ribbon and graduation certificate at the end of the season. Young dancers in the “Twirl” program earn special jewels to apply to their ribbon each month as they pass off technical skills. This helps the dancers feel accomplished and proud of their progression.

Those dancers involved in this program will perform at Christmas time and Spring Recital. They will wear the same costume for both performances. Most dancers currently in Project Dances’ recreation program also participate in their incredible tumbling program, which follows a syllabus and boasts certified coaches.  Adding a 60 minute/week tumbling class pairs nicely with the recreation dance programs because it supports growth in strength and flexibility.

1st to 9th Grade Performance Recreation Program

This program will focus not only on technique but on performance quality as well. The Performance Recreation Program will be offered in many genres and combo classes. PD will offer: Ballet/Jazz,

Jazz/Hip Hop and Power Tap from 1st to 9th grade. Dancers will participate in two, one hour classes a week. The same group of students will remain together in both classes, both days. The 2020-2021 season we are offering a Tuesday/Thursday and a Wednesday/Friday option. One class weekly will focus only on jazz and ballet technique and the second class will support the technique class but also work on choreography, showmanship, precision, style and clean dancing. See the schedule below. Recreation Dancers in this program will commit from August to May.  Those dancers involved in this program will perform at Christmas time and in a Spring Recital. They will wear the same costume for both performances. Dancers in this program, if attend regularly, should expect to grow tremendously without competing.

Adding a 60 minute/week tumbling class pairs nicely with the recreation dance programs because it supports growth in strength and flexibility.
