Recreation Descriptions

Here at Project Dance, we couldn’t be more thrilled with the immense positive growth that we have seen in our Performance Recreation program over the years, and we are continuing to build upon the strong foundation that was laid in our significant program revamp since 2017.

A detailed and comprehensive technical syllabus was implemented for each age, class and level to be introduced to students on a weekly basis. Dancers in the recreation program have received and continue to receive a broader foundation of technique, knowledge of dance terminology, as well as learning how to execute moves with style, precision and strength. Our class structure has proved balance and progression appropriate for both age and skill level. This growth assists each recreation dancers’ to have a smooth transition into Project Dances’ entry level competitive program, if desired.

Recreation dancers at Project Dance will grow not only in technique, but also in confidence and poise. As we strive tirelessly to shape well-rounded students, we have also taken each program a step further and created meaningful monthly themes that nurture each dancer's sense of self worth, personal development, and how to become impactful members of their community.  We are passionate in continuing to build on the firm foundation that continues to grow and flourish year after year within the Recreation Program at our studio.

“Little Stars Stepping Stones Program” for Toddler, Preschool & Kindergarten Age Students

At Project Dance they are serious about their dancers' technical growth, but we also believe dance must be FUN! This program brings the “Stepping Stones” to our technical recreation syllabus. “Little Stars Stepping Stones” also supports Project Dance's main objective by providing a strong focus on building confidence within each tiny dancer. The monthly themes provided by our curriculum will be continually implemented in future seasons at Project Dance.

Each Little dancer will receive their very own Memory Picture book and an achievement Certificate at the end of their season when we  celebrate each little dancer with a "Graduation Ceremony", where students get to wear a cap and gown as they are awarded their Little Star Stepping Stones graduation certificate and Memory Book by their teacher.

Dancers involved in our stepping stones program will perform at both our Christmas Showcase and our End-of-Year Spring Concert. In efforts to keep expenses affordable for our families, dancers in our Recreation program wear the same costume for both performances.

Students in the Performance Recreation program are expected to commit to our full season from the start of classes in late- August through their year end concert in May.  Early withdrawal from program will result in a $50 Withdrawal fee per class and previously paid fees (costumes purchase, performance fees, ect.) will not be reimbursed.

A majority of dancers enrolled in Project Dances’ recreation program also participate in our outstanding Tumbling and Acrobatic program, which follows a substantial class syllabus and boasts certified, accomplished coaches.  Adding a 60 minute/week tumbling class pairs tremendously with our recreation  programs as it supports strength, flexibility and coordination.

***Based on parent feedback, we anticipate these classes filling up to capacity quickly.  We strongly recommend beginning the enrollment process for your student promptly upon registration opening on this website June 1st 2024. Follow us on Instagram and Facebook for updates on upcoming registration  (link)

Performance Recreation Program for 1st to 9th Grade

Our Performance Recreation program at Project Dance embodies the core values we ground ourselves on in not only cultivating a love for dance in each student, but also preparing each dancer for a thriving future at Project Dance. This program focuses strongly on both technique and performance quality, two significant components to a dancer's success. The Performance Recreation Program is offered in many genres and combination dance classes including Ballet/Jazz , Jazz/Hip Hop and power Tap/Clogging for dancers in 1st - 9th grade.

Dancers will participate in two, one hour classes a week. These classes hold the same group of students  both days, building friendships and comradery amongst classmates. Each class will consist of 30 minutes of technique instruction and 30 minutes of choreography preparation and polishing for their upcoming performance(s).

Dancers involved in this program will perform at both our Christmas Showcase and our End-of-Year Spring Concert. In efforts to keep expenses affordable for our families, dancers in our Recreation Program wear the same costume for both performances.
