Program Description:

The Pre-Professional Program is geared towards the most serious dancer at Project Dance that has a desire and dream beyond a high school career. Dancers in the Pre-Professional Program will be given experiences and opportunities that will prepare them for their dream in the professional or college dance world. Dancers in this program will have the opportunity to receive intense training in ballet, jazz technique, artistry, performance quality, pointe, hip hop and acro. This program is for the most committed dancer.

With a well diversified weekly schedule this dancer will receive training at a quick, intense pace. His/her weekly schedule will consist of three ballet classes taught by knowledgeable and highly experienced staff that work to instill a passion and love for ballet. Students will also have a required jazz technique class, two competition choreography classes and an acro class with instruction from highly trained, certified and qualified staff members.

Members of these teams also have the option to participate on award winning Hip Hop Teams, Ballet Ensemble, Pointe Ensemble or a pointe class. Dancers are placed on a Hip Hop and Ballet Ensemble Team based off an audition. Pointe Ensemble is for our dancers proficient in pointe and asked by invitation only to participate.

Dancers in the Pre-Professional Program will compete in three to four genres; jazz production (only Elite), contemporary, lyrical and open. All of these pieces will compete at four local competitions. They will also compete in four genres, by choice of the directors, at two local national dance conventions. Project Dance brings in only the best professional choreographers from all across the country to teach their students their competition material. These guest choreographers have been recognized on a national level for their work.

Dancers in this program will be evaluated twice a year to track their progression and to assist them in improving in their weaker areas. Collaboration between teachers about individual students also facilitates this progression.
This program requires dancers to attend 10 of the 15 summer intensive days offered on select weeks in both June and July. This flexibility allows your family the freedom to pick what works best with your summer vacation schedule.

For new students please visit “audition schedule” so your dancer knows when to attend auditions. Following auditions we will inform your dancer how many intensives days are required for them depending on which team they make. Dancers that do not participate in the summer intensive program will not be allowed to compete the following dance season with us.
Project Dance is not only committed to developing great dancers, but also about the growth of an individuals character! Students learn teamwork, discipline, importance of strong work ethic, dedication, and responsibility all while training in a challenging, positive and fun environment.
