Ms. Lauralyn Kofford began her extensive training as a gymnast at a very young age and then continued in the competitive world of gymnastics. As she began her dance training, Lauralyn saw the positive transition her gymnastic assisted her in that world. She continued training in both gymnastics and dance and she
directly attributes both in attaining a dance scholarship at BYU. She
enjoyed being a Cougarette for two years and a Songleader for another
two. Tumbling was a needed component as she participated on these two
teams at BYU.
Ms Kofford graduated from BYU with a Bachelor’s of Science degree
in Dance Education and a Minor in Health and Fitness. She taught high
school for 12 years serving as the dance department chair, teaching health
and fitness, dance company director, and drill team coach. Lauralyn has
also choreographed numerous award winning routines over the years and
continues to work in the choreography industry She also directs
dance competitions, judging dance competitions on both a local and
national level, teaching master classes and training and educating in the
dance industry.

Some of Lauralyn’s crowning experiences include choreographing the
2002 Winter Olympic Opening and Closing ceremonies, Utah’s annual 4th
of July “Stadium Of Fire” show, the “Miss Rodeo America” pageant, various
commercial choreography, Bowl-Game halftime shows, and many national
high school championship routines, where she incorporates both dance
and tumbling. Lauralyn has been the event coordinator for Dance America,
directing Dance America’s “Summer Slam Dance Camps”, and “Rap It Up”
Hip Hop Workshops held in multiply cities in both Utah and Idaho. Lauralyn
has incorporated acro/tumbling into the “Summer Slam” schedule the last
three years because she again knows how important both worlds of
tumbling and dance connect. She developed the acro/tumbling
curriculum for “Summer Slam” and incorporated multiply levels and trained

instructors so safety and progression is practiced. She is also the co-
director for the “Miss Dance/Drill Utah Pageant” and the “Utah Studio Solo

Championship”. She has been a certified state and national adjudicator for
over 20 years and has judged for companies across the United States and
Japan. She travels across the United States and Japan yearly also teach
choreography, teach master classes and dance education.
Lauralyn’s training and understanding of the body doesn’t start and
stop there. She has specialty certifications in kick boxing, step aerobics and
sliver sneakers. She has taught group fitness classes at VASA for 15
years. Training the body properly and safely is a huge must for Lauralyn.
She knows the body extremely well and how to protect it in your training.
She also build confidence with her positive teaching style. Lauralyn couldn’t
be more excited to certify in Acrobatic Arts this summer with our other
tumbling instructors and direct Project Dance tumbling program.
